JUSTIN CARRARD
Dr Justin Carrard is a Sport and Exercise Medicine Physician (SEMS, IOC), a Postdoctoral Research Fellow and a Lecturer at the Department of Sport, Exercise and Health of the University of Basel (Switzerland).
Since 2019, he has served as an Associate Editor for the British Medical Journal Open Sport & Exercise Medicine and, since 2021, as a board member of the Réseau Santé & Sport (Network Health & Sport). He is a former board member of Sport & Exercise Medicine Switzerland (SEMS) and the founder of its Junior SEMS section.
Passionate about sport and exercise medicine, Dr. Carrard is dedicated to safeguarding athletes' health, preventing and treating injuries, illnesses, and non-communicable diseases, and ultimately helping individuals age healthily and happily.
His research focuses on high-throughput metabolomics and lipidomics to explore the metabolic determinants of training adaptation, overtraining syndrome, relative energy deficiency, fatigue, and healthy aging.
As a clinician, Dr. Carrard adopts a holistic approach to care, addressing athletes' and patients' needs comprehensively. His practice encompasses injury diagnosis and treatment, musculoskeletal ultrasound, pre-participation check-ups, fatigue management, performance testing, and exercise prescriptions.
